Sexually Transmitted Disease Prevention & Control Program
The goal of the Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Prevention and Control Program is to reduce the transmission of STDs and their complications, to reduce the transmission of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and to provide effective treatment and continuum of care services to residents of suburban Cook County by:
Providing education and counseling to reduce the risk of STD acquisition;
Detecting asymptomatic and/or symptomatic persons unlikely to seek STD services;
Conducting effective diagnosis and treatment;
Facilitating examination, treatment and counseling of sexual partners and those that may benefit from such services;
Administering pre-exposure vaccination – Hepatitis A, B.
