Prevention Partners

Asian Health Coalition of Illinois & Asian Human Services, Inc. is funded to provide and promote HIV screening and prevention services for suburban Cook County Asian-Americans. For more information, please call 773-878-3539 or 773-728-2235.

Aunt Martha's Youth Service Center in Chicago Heights is funded to teach HIV risk reduction skills to foster home youth and gay teens. The center also trains youth professionals to work more effectively with high-risk youth. For more information, please call 708-825-3923.

Carepoint is funded to conduct HIV risk reduction education and testing with injection drug users and high risk heterosexuals in Evanston, Des Plaines and Palatine. For more information, please call 847-733-9073.

Diverse Communications and Health Media Foundation produce media messages promoting personal risk reduction, HIV testing and prevention services for high risk groups. For more information, please call 312-804-1647.

Howard Brown Health Center is funded to conduct HIV prevention and testing outreach to men who have sex with men in gay bars in Calumet City, Blue Island, Bedford Park, Summit, Forest Park, Franklin Park and Elk Grove Village. For more information, please call 773-871-3300.

Links North Shore Youth Health Services and OPALGA’s Prism Youth Network have been funded to provide HIV prevention group health education, risk reduction counseling and testing to gay youth in Palatine, Evanston and Oak Park. OPALGA’s Spectrum Program provides group peer support for healthy lifestyles for young adults (18-25 yrs) who are gay, bisexual, lesbian and transgender. Sisters and Brothers Helping Each Other and the Working for Togetherness organizations have been funded to conduct street outreach, prevention case management and HIV/STD testing for high risk heterosexuals, women in prostitution, and injection drug users in Ford Heights, Chicago Heights, Harvey, Robbins, Markham and Dolton. The Chicago Recovery Alliance is funded to provide harm reduction street outreach and HIV/STD testing to drug injectors, their partners, non-injected substance users and sex workers in Harvey, Chicago Heights, Calumet City, Summit, Justice, Cicero, Maywood, Elgin and Evanston. With private foundation grants, The Alliance also provides legal syringe exchange services to reduce syringe-sharing and safely dispose of used syringes. OPALGA and Renz Addiction Counseling Center conduct HIV prevention education support groups and bar outreach to find, educate and test Latino males who have sex with males in Oak Park and Elgin. For more information, please call 708-848-7544, OPALGA; 847-622-2719, Renz Addiction Counseling Center.

The South Suburban Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse is funded to provide STD screenings for high risk heterosexuals in drug treatment. For more information, please call 708-492-2190.

Vital Bridges and CCDPH provide prevention case management to HIV-infected persons in south, west and north suburban Cook County who need support to stop behavior patterns which infected them and which could put others at risk. For more information, please call 708-386-3383.
