Food Safety Resources:

To ensure the safety of food for consumption in suburban Cook County, the Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) inspects food establishments, issues licenses for unincorporated areas, responds to complaints and investigates foodborne illness.

• Inspect Food Establishments

  We inspect food establishments in unincorporated Cook County and 35 additional towns that have contracted with our agency to conduct the inspections. For areas or towns not listed here, please contact your village officials.

• Issues Licenses for Unincorporated areas

  We issue licenses for food establishments in unincorporated Cook County. To apply for a food establishment licenses in all other areas in Cook County, please contact your local health official.

• Responds to Complaints

  When CCDPH receives a complaint about a food establishment in unincorporated Cook County or in one of the 35 contract towns listed below, staff conducts an inspection the establishment for food safety violations.

  CCDPH investigates foodborne illnesses that were a result of eating in a food establishment in suburban Cook County (excluding Oak Park, Stickney Township, Evanston and Skokie).
