2018 FOOD SUMMIT: HOW TO MAKE GOOD FOOD AFFORDABLE & WIDELY AVAILABLE

REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!

The cost to attend the 2018 Food Summit is $50. Click here to register.

There is an urgent need to transform the local food system to improve health, support sustainability and ensure food justice. Join the Cook County Department of Public Health, Cook County Health and Hospitals System, and Loyola University Chicago, Health Sciences Division for the 2018 Food Summit on October 5-6, 2018 at Loyola University Chicago, located at 2160 S. 1st Avenue in Maywood, Illinois.

Be inspired by a vision for food system transformation and learn about investments and policy opportunities, including the Good Food Purchasing Policy (GFPP) recently adopted by Cook County government, that advance equitable, healthy and sustainable local and regional food systems. Stakeholders will also be engaged in identifying actions for effective implementation of the GFPP. In the coming weeks, the program book and other information, such as directions, will be in the "Documents and Handouts" tab. Please check back periodically.

Summit attendees can also participate in one of two 1-hour tours on the morning of Friday, October 5 to see firsthand local urban farms in Maywood: The Giving Garden and OK Farm. Attendees will get to hear their stories, and how the social and business enterprises that each urban farm supports are making a difference to local communities and residents. The first tour will take place from 9:30 – 10:30 am, and the second tour from 11 am – 12 pm. Maximum participation is 20 attendees per tour.

To participate in one of the Pre-Summit Urban Farms Tours, please complete a separate registration form:
