Fall Healthy Schools Training

October 26, 2011 3:30pm - 5:30pm

Come learn more about making vending, fundraisers and celebrations healthier!

Snacks and treats abound in schools. It’s often a balancing act between adults seeking less sugar and fat in children’s diets, acknowledging input from students, and an ongoing interest in generating revenue. Add to this the mindset that parties and bake sales are traditions of childhood and you can wind up with passionate disagreements. It’s important to see the issues from all sides and find common ground such as how to offer choices that maximize student health and the learning environment while addressing the needs of students, parents, and staff and still making money. Leave this session with resources and ideas for talking with others and taking the next steps to healthier vending, fundraising, and celebrations/rewards.

Training will be provided by Kate Lampel Link, Competitive Foods and Beverage Manager, Alliance for a Healthier Generation.

Training Date and Location:
North Suburbs: (ALL GRADES)
Wednesday, October 26th 3:30-5:30pm
Maywood-Melrose Park-Broadview District 89
906 Walton St. Melrose Park, IL
